dc.descriptionThis paper studies the entrepreneurial path of the "antioqueño" Alejandro Echavarra Isaza from his birth, in the mid nineteenth century, until his death in 1928. Its central axis deals with the diversity of his different businesses and with the way in which family issues were related to them and to his financial and economic behavior. The diversification of his investments, the innovation, and the creation of new firms, suggest that he was a true entrepreneur in the Schumpeterian sense of this term.
dc.descriptionEste artículo versa sobre la trayectoria empresarial del antioqueño Alejandro Echavarría Isaza desde su nacimiento, a mediados del siglo XIX, hasta su fallecimiento en 1928. Presenta como eje central la diversidad de sus negocios y la forma en que los asuntos de la vida familiar tuvieron relación con sus empresas y acciones económicas. La diversificación de sus inversiones, la innovación, y la creación de nuevas empresas indican que se trataba de un verdadero empresario en el sentido Shumpeteriano de la expresión.
