dc.descriptionIncluye referencias bibliográficas.Villa Rey es el nombre con el que se autobautizo el asentamiento, de carácter informal, ubicado al sur-oriente de la ciudad de Santa Marta, a las afueras del perímetro urbano. Su existencia es reciente dado que la ocupación del suelo se produjo en un lapso de menos de 5 años hacia el pasado. Se encuentra habitado por personas que vieron en este asentamiento la posibilidad de tener acceso al suelo para edificar sus hogares, siendo la mayoría de origen local. Este es uno de los muchos barrios de carácter subnormal que se desarrollan en la ciudad. Sin embargo, por su ubicación resulta de un atractivo particular para la exploración de nuevas formas de desarrollo del ejercicio urbanístico además para recordar conceptos que se han visto desplazados frente a la modernidad y que han retomado su espacio al demostrar su validez aun vigente, esto con el objetivo de brindar soluciones flexibles y acordes a las condiciones propias de cada lugar, teniendo cómo finalidad de mejorar la calidad del espacio de sus habitantes. Villa Rey is the name by which the informal settlement was self-baptized, located to the south-east of the city of Santa Marta, on the outskirts of the urban perimeter. Its existence is recent since the occupation of the land occurred in a period of less than 5 years in the past. It is inhabited by people who saw in this settlement the possibility of having access to land to build their homes, the majority being of local origin. This is one of the many neighborhoods of character subnormal that develop in the city. However, due to its location, it is particularly attractive for exploring new forms of urban development development, as well as to recall concepts that have been displaced in the face of modernity and that have retaken their space by demonstrating their validity still in force, this with the objective of providing flexible solutions in accordance with the conditions of each place, with the aim of improving the quality of space for its inhabitants
